METALLIC CONVEYOR BELTS > BELT SPECIFICATIONS

beltweaveWire conveyor belts are specified by :
The number of spiral coils per foot of belt width (A)
The number of cross members per foot of belt length (B)
Diameter of spiral coil wires (C)
Diameter of cross rod wires (D)

Belt Selection and Operation : Selection of the correct belt for elevated temperature application is as complicated as it is important.

The selection process includes : Alloy selection, Contaminants considerations, Temperature considerations , Mesh selection, Consideration of the conveyor. Each of these factors are interrelated, so no one item can be assessed by itself.

Once the belt is selected, belt life and performance maximization are the goals. Factors affecting belt life and performance under operating conditions include : Installation and break-in procedures, Carburization, Conveyor alignment and condition, Nitriding, Loads and load concentrations, Preferential Oxidation, Operational conditions, Contaminants, Mechanical damage. Some of these factors are inherent in the process, and at best, can only be minimally contolled. Others are highly controllable.
